Professor Jiang Fengyi from Nanchang University was elected as an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences

On November 22, Chinese Academy of Science announced the name list of new academician in 2019. Professor Jiang Fengyi from Nanchang University was elected as an academician of the Technology and Science Department of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. This is the first academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences produced by Nanchang University, which marks a great breakthrough in the construction of the leading talent team in Nanchang University.

Professor Jiang Fengyi, director of the National Silicon - based LED Engineering Technology Research Center, has made pioneered、systematic、creative academic achievements in the direction of silicon based GaN (gallium nitride) semiconductor luminescence, and led his team to take a led in the international development of high-efficiency silicon-based GaN blue, green and yellow LED materials and chips, and realized industrialization.

Jiang Fengyi, Male, born in 1963, graduated from Physics Department of Jilin University in 1984, graduated from the Changchun Institute of Physics of Chinese Academy of Sciences (now Institute of Optics and Physics) in 1989. He has been  engaged in the training, scientific research and social service of semiconductor lighting in Nanchang University for a long time. Jiang Fengyi has won the first prize of National Technology Invention and the Outstanding Contribution Award of Global Semiconductor Lighting. He was also awarded as “National Excellent Communist Party Member” and “National Advanced Worker”, and was elected as the representative of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.
